BYOC!

Bring Your Own Containers!

We are so thrilled to be able to offer access to your basic pantry and bulk needs without all the plastic and packaging! You will need to bring your own containers. All of our bulk products are sold by weight, and we will weigh and fill your containers for you. We have over 150 different items available in bulk including grains, pastas, beans, nuts, seeds, spices, oils, vinegars, granola, fresh ground peanut butter and more!

Bulk items” are simply items that are transferred from a large bulk container into a smaller container for purchase. An example would be loose produce at your local grocery store. Normally, you take the produce to the counter and they weigh it and charge you based on the weight - per pound/ounce. Sometimes, bulk sections allow you to weigh and fill your own containers. At our store, we do that part for you.

If you’ve never used a bulk section before, we’ll break it down for you step by step so you know what to expect!

  1. Bring your own containers! You can bring any container - glass jars, Tupperware, anything! I know we are trying to reduce plastic and waste, but if plastic zip-lock bags is what you have, we will fill them with no judgment whatsoever. We encourage you to bring in the containers you are already using for your products. There’s no need to have a separate clean container just for transporting. Bring in spice jars or the flour container you’re already using!

If you forget your jars at home or didn’t bring enough, we have a crate near the checkout counter with FREE JARS to use for your purchase! They are used, donated jars that have been washed and sanitized on site. We don’t always have them available, but if we do, you are welcome to use them! We also have new jars and canvas produce bags available for purchase that can be used as well.

  2. Take your containers to the associate at the checkout counter and tell them what you want. You can say things like, “May I have a pound of…” or “May I get half of a jar of…” or “What does an ounce look like of…”. If you’re not sure how much you need, we can slowly start filling your container and you can just say “when”!

  3. The associate will weigh your container and subtract that amount from the total weight after the container is filled. We aren’t going to charge you for the weight of your own container or any contents in the container when you bring it - that means your containers don’t have to be empty! Once you start running low on something, you can bring that container into our store to refill it!

  4. The associate will fill your container with the product and amount you’ve requested.

  5. The container will get weighed one last time for a final weight minus the original weight of the container.

  6. You’ll get your filled container back and the total will get added to your order!

THAT’S IT!
